Ah, we manufacture Sand Rails (dune buggies) and do general fabrication when things are slow. WickedSandToys.com -
That's interesting, What does your company do?
The company I manage is nearing similar circumstances...we are currently still in the black though (thank god)
We are an Aerospace machine shop BTW...satellites just aren't selling these days i guessLeave a comment:

Ahh, its actually my choice. Boss offered the company to me or I can decline and we shut the doors and move on. Its not very succesful at the moment but there is 100,000 dollars worth of tools and machines here that I am sure I can do something with =) I am not inheriting any of the debt the company has incurred so I will probably give it a shot. Thanks for the well wishes.Leave a comment:

Wow, that's on the extreme opposite ends lol
Let's hope it's not the "losing your job" side of the spectrum that you're going to end up on. I am knocking on my wooden desk right now for you.Leave a comment:

Thats awesome! I never even thought about that before. My car is on hold for a minute because I am either losing my job in two weeks or taking over the company.Leave a comment:

That cat is going to look pretty mean when it's lit up. Reminds me of the Dome HSV-010 GT and GTR from the Super GT series!

Those of us who live in Ca are under the unfortunate blanket of the C.A.R.B. and the clean air act. As of last year none of us (exhaust suppliers) can even stock parts that are not legal in Ca, it doesn't matter what kind buyer is purchasing the cat, racer, or an out of state buyer, we are not allowed to even have them on the premesis (we have already had two random visits from the B.A.R.). Furthermore, out of state suppliers can be fined for selling non C.A.R.B. cats to a Ca buyer, Kragen has already had issues with this, so it doesn't surprise me you had a hard time getting one.
Very nice fab by the way, thank you for sharing it!Leave a comment:

wow, thats a beautiful piece.
The buildup around the edges was a mistake on my part. I had a brain fart and mixed the resin by volume instead of by weight and it was not setting. I had to mix another batch and try to cover / mix /stir it in with the bad layer of resin which caused excess pooling of the resin down in the lowest parts of the mold.Leave a comment:

I'm sure he does.
I've had a beautiful new TiAL wastegate sitting in a box in the garage for about eight years now.. lots of things like that just hiding in boxes in the garage. guess I need to sell it since I'll never use it.Leave a comment:

Bill, you should make a display case full of unusually badass/awesome/omg-i-want-that stuff that you've collected over the years!! hahaLeave a comment:

Not only is the surround awesome, the exhaust is super bad ass as well. There will be a bright red glow from the side of the car when the cat is hot! Just a little tip from my many composite screw ups, on those sharp edges where the resin is likely to build up, cut small shards of carbon and put them in there with the first coat of resin. It not only reinforces it but it eliminates the resin edge.
Here is a cool carbon outlet I bought a few years back from a FW21B Williams. It has some kind of metallic weaved into it.
