  • Kognition 2nd gen wing based on f1 williams wing (ya)

I thought I'd share this. Support the guy, poor guy is getting low business/got his credit line cancelled, business going sour, he's a legit guy that supports 240s in time attack, etc...

Plus this wing is badass and I'm getting it (ya...).

For 700USD brand new its a steal. Considering how much a GTC-300 is... and even used.. its a bargain. 200USD extra for frame mounted setup.

Up to 74" wide and 12" cord... bad ass. The mounts, everything totally bad ass and again based on a formula 1 williams team wing. Can't go wrong with that.

Just thought I'd throw it out there. The price WILL go up after group buy whether it goes through or not, it'll be like 1200-1400USD...

Cmon guys... plus if ten ppl dont buy the group buy fails and everyone will have to pay extra.

That is an awfully aggressive profile. I know the guy knows what he is doing, but is that really going to be a useful profile on a 125whp S13? Looks like what I make in the turns I would lose in the straights.

I really wish there was at least some CFD data for drag vs. downforce. Yes, it might make a huge amount of downforce for the size, but at what drag force?

Some F1 tracks will see the engineers trading drag for more downforce(Monoco).

I know this thread is old, but I wanted to update NRR on the status of the group buy ~ Mike (Kognition) did post the CFD data, and it's pretty impressive. Click that link one more time, check it out!

If I didn't have his setup from last year on my S14 I'd certainly be in on the group buy.

I cant wait to get mine lol.... its badass.

One 370z time attack car he was setting up in the redline series cracked the wing as to how much force it was generating and that was at 120mph... he is reinforcing the wing and supposedly using 30% more carbon fiber to support it. Yikes

Just got an update email with a sexy mount and inside wing design change pic.

It is tig welded inside and ribbed for extra support and 30% more carbon fiber. Next test date 18th at willwow springs.

                Can't wait.

                    Designs never
stay as originally intended. What we see on paper is almost always disproved in the real world. This is my latest upgrade from our last misshap at Auto Club Speedway where we had some structural integrity issues to put it mildly. Our next testing date is on the 18th at Willow Springs again on the trusty 370Z of Mike Bonanni's Double Down Motorsports. What i have done was increase carbon fiber content by 30%, and increased the amount of ribs. I originally used carbon fiber ribs that we vacuum infused, however i wanted something a little more capable of transfering load and vibration
from the top down. So i use 1/16" waterjetted aluminum ribs, that are bonded to divinicel aircraft foam core. I also have the following news: S2k orders, i am picking up Robi's (Robispec) S2K on Monday nite to knock out the upright design. And the S13 uprights are completed now. I have just the S14 uprights left to complete now along with the S2K's. So while i am a little behind, we have made incredible progress on what i expect to be a very high quality performance wing. You will notice in the above images, there is a TIG welded support plate. This rests just beneath the upper skin of the wing. Compression load travels directly into the support structure, and down thru the upright. I use a special shock resistant adhesive to bond the top plate to the wing inside. Another change i made was in adjustment, where it was adjustable in one degree steps. It is now adjustable in half a degree steps! That is close tollerance adjustment! I do also have an Evo 9 coming into the shop on Monday for wing modelling. So if you know anyone interested in a track wing, send them my way! Thank you for your patience! We are almost ready, i just want to do some final testing of the support structure at Willow Springs.
                    All the best!

Heh there has been several updates i just didnt post in here

                      But its coming along:

I am going to wait on gurney flaps which he said he'll be putting together in spring and well its almost spring anyways lol. The above is a 74" as opposed to the 72" I am getting. Sick wing

Too bad I can't get one in 48" width.

I'm sure he could make you one if you asked. Why would you go 48" though? I am guessing you're class restricted to 48"?

I already asked him a few months ago. no dice. Maybe he'll change his mind eventually.

Yes, class restrictions are 10.75" chord length, 48" width. stoopid.

You want a multi-element wing if you can run it with a width that low.

You can cobble together some aluminum wing extrusions and get some reasonable downforce out of such a small wing.
