  • Using crappy JDM coilover springs

So my Stances came with an extra set of springs, which are 65mm ID. The front ones are 9k and 175mm long, and the rears are 7k and 200mm long. I thought of using the rears in the front with the 8611 setup if they're not too long...anyone know if these springs are okay or if the rates are way off or something?

They probably have a large variance in rate from spring to spring, but it'll "work."

200mm might be too long to use up front though. Can't tell ya for sure until I put my stuff together(cough cough - need some 8611s...) haha.

It should work since the lower bracket on the Stances are adjustable, unless you're "mad tyte drifter" slammed.

FWIW the springs that came on my D2's wouldn't fit on the GC spring perches. The ID was just a bit too small.

Yep, the stuff on D2/K-Sports are 60mm ID springs - 2.5" springs are 64mm. I had the same thought to get me going, but it wasn't meant to be.

I got some 7" ERS, so I'll be staying away from the Stance springs. Probably just sell them with the coilovers. Rates are 400 front, 325 rear (7.1/5.8 in JDMspeak).

Those are the rates you're going with on the Konis?

I believe. Any comments on that? I want to go a little softer than I have now, and since I'll be adding a larger front sway bar and disconnecting the rear, I figured that decreasing the front rates more than the rears from my current 8/6 should give me something in the ballpark of decent balance.

                    Sounds good to me.

I think that street tires on these cars definitely calls for something softer than what most people think you need. The hard part is balancing that with suspension travel up front.

FYI, there's some 7"x2.5" 250 lb. ERS on eBay, buy it now is pretty reasonable. I thought you said you might use a rate in that area for the rear of your car.

I was thinking more 300ish lb/in, but it's still up in the air. I'll probably buy a few rates pretty cheap and see which ones I like.
