  • Innovate LC-1 Troubleshooting...

So my RX7 has the older LC-1 controller with digital AFR gauge on it..

When I fired up the car at the last race, the gauge doesn't read anything. I just get -.-.- across the readout.

From what I have read, that means the serial output isn't connected to the gauge. Well, it's connected. I pulled the wiring harness apart and pulled/re-seated the connectors, and it's still doing it.

I don't see any blinky LEDs on the controller itself where the error codes are mentioned in the manual: http://www.innovatemotorsports.com/s...C-1_Manual.pdf

    any ideas?

would you be game enough to open the gauge and see if any of the soldered connections to the board may have cracked from vibration?

Considering the age of it (way out of warranty) and the fact it's not working now, I wouldn't be opposed to that...

Is the interface on the LC1 controller just serial? Wouldn't be hard to build/buy another cable and hook up to the controller and see if it's actually working.

Just looking for ideas where to start troubleshooting here...

Another thing you could try is if you think its the cable, use a multimeter to check the continuity of each pin. Wriggle the cable around and see if any of them break connection.

It could even be a faulty 02 sensor. Might just be easy enough to go for an lc2 or something similar.

Just did last race with the car for the next several months. Have plenty of time to diagnose,l thru the summer, so I'll fiddle with it then. Ran out of time last week and just raced without it. Don't need no wbo2 on a carb'd car!

Have you tried calling and asking the Manufacture what that display means?

not yet. I was hoping for informed people before calling tech support in India.

Do you need a wideband on either of your weedwacker track engines?

Psshhh... I have at least that much son. I just flip through pages on my STACK dash. I got gauge senders for days son... for days.

I also ride with the laptop shotgun so it can tell me when there's danger to my manifold.
