  • Tranny support bracket

There are 4 bolts to mount the tranny support bracket to the frame. One of the holes on the chassis is stripped and I want to install a helicoil. Does anyone know the size of the thread?

I'm not helicoil pro but don't you have to drill it out oversized anyways? Is there enough material there to do that?

      Yeah, there's enough material.
      IIRC, those holes are 10 x 1.25.

might grab one of the spare bolts and check though.

Factory welded nuts are big enough for a helicoil.

That would be great if it was a 10 x 1.25 as I have a kit that size from my SE-R days.

i'm fairly certain they are m10x1.25, there aren't any course threaded parts on the s14 that i have run into that aren't factory, every m8, m10 are 1.25 pitch

Yep, they're M10x1.25mm like every other M10 bolt on the car.

just to play devil's advocate... What about the bellhousing bolts and engine mount to block bolts?

They were all 10x1.5 on my Maxima. I found that out AFTER I "chased" the threads with a 10x1.25 tap to clean the surface rust out of my rebuilt engine. Wound up drilling and helicoiling all 15 or so of them. (4 each engine mount and about 6-7 on the bellhousing). DOH!!!
I don't remember what they were on my KA- never had to worry about changing them, just remove/reinstall so I always used the same bolts and didn't pay attention to the threads.

But umm yeah. I'm pretty sure just about everything else on the S14 is fine thread save the stuff going into the bellhousing or engine block.
