  • How do you take apart the steering shaft bushing connection?

I have a rhd s13 and the rubber steering bushing in the shaft is below the bmc. While i have the brakes apart i figured id replace the rubber with an aluminum bushing i have. I managed to remove the four lock nuts but cannot remove or turn the bolts.

I've read this can be done in car but am wondering if I am missing something. Any suggestions?

I took my column out and used plenty of force. I couldn't get it while it was in the car.

My bushing came out/went in real easy.

So are the black bolts permanently fixed to the shafts that go to the rack and to the column??

          Yup

Note that there are also two 13mm bolts present (they should be a black color); do not try to remove these bolts, as they are not meant to be removed!
