  • Opinions on GK Tech +25mm FLCA?

I've had the GK Tech drop spindles in my possession for a while, and was considering ordering the +25mm control arms and installing everything at once.

I understand that non-adjustable arms are less than ideal.

However, with such an increase in track width in an off the shelf part, I feel that these might be a solid investment to raise the front roll center height.

Also, the optional +20mm ball joint shanks in the kit I feel would raise the RCH too much when combined with the 40mm drop spindles and +25mm FLCA, excessively affecting the car's roll axis.

    Thoughts on this mumbo jumbo?

The design is ok, but I'm not a big fan of them not being adjustable. I had to explain to GKTech's engineer about the inner rod end not being in bending due to the 2 bolts attaching it to the FLCA. That removes a large percentage of the bending moment (not 100% since the FLCA is not infinitely rigid, but most of it).

      .
Glad I found this thread and that both of you said something about the adjustability of these, its something I completely overlooked. The good thing about that though is the FLCA length will always be consistent and there are less threaded parts that can loosen up while driving.

Scarredone, are the GKTech Drop spindles you have adjustable? There was a drop spindle they made, where the piece of the spindle where the tie rod end met up with it was a separate piece and could be adjusted:

If this is the case, maybe you could adjust them close enough to compensate for the +20mm ball joint shanks?, or maybe the easiest way to overcome this challenge would be just to not use this +20mm option and use the standard ball joint shanks they come with instead?
This link may be helpful too:

Def, when you mentioned the FLCA "not being in bending", were you talking about the limited caster adjustment or just the movement of the arm during normal suspension travel? Even though the FLCA are not adjustable I've been trying to figure out how much (positive) caster one could adjust for with these before binding starts to occur.

GK tech claim that you should always have the three socket cap bolts securing the tie rod pickup arm.

Bending being mechanically loaded in bending. I'm sure there's a wikipedia page on it if you don't know what it is.

Wait... how can you have 3 socket cap bolts when there are only 2 threaded holes?

There are five threaded holes on the rear, iirc, and the middle socketcap is short, only going through the back side and arm.

unless this is a completely different product or I'm completely fuktarded.

That's right, the middle one is not fully threaded. I was getting confused on 5... I should have probably just looked at mine...
