  • Good functional front strut bar?

    Hallo!

I'm curious to see if you guys got an idea of what front strut bar to chose for an s13? if I ask on other forums they will recommend the one they got even if its weak as rubber as probably 90% of the crap on the market (rough guess ).

Before I had to see so the ones I looked at would clear my intake manifold as I got the CA18DET engine, now I have got myself a custom made one that deletes that problem

I really like my DC Sports front strut bar. One piece bar and very rigid. Not sure if it would clear your intake manifold. It was close to the valve cover with stock engine mounts so I made small spacers.

I'm eventually going to tie it to the firewall.

Is it this kind of DC sports you mean?

And as for the intake its not a problem no more as I got a custom made now with HUGE clearance

Edit: did not see the picture at first so now I know the one you mean

I'd recommend the Stealth Custom Fab one.

The stealth custom fab one also comes with a BMC brace built in.

            Good tips you guys, thanks

I think both of them looks like they will do the job and the design is awesome to, donĀ“t want to much "bling" in the enginebay.

A third option I have found is the OKUYAMA Carbing that I found at http://www.rhdjapan.com (negative is the shiny aluminium)
A solid unit as the others so will get some price quotes incl shipping on all of them and see how they compares.

The one I use is rotorimp's triangulated bar.

It requires some drilling in the cowl area to anchor it properly, but it's worth it IMO. The picture is not of my car, but it fits fine with my SR and Silvia front (the picture posted has a standard pop up front). Rotorimp has gone MIA, but AZHitman at NICO has mentioned to members to contact him direct at [email protected] Dunno if he's still making them, but if you want a triangulated bar, this is a good option.

I went with a solid bar vs a bar that pivots with bolts after reading Def's review of the Stealth Custom Fab. I've yet to have the car running to test it but I can vouch for the Stealth Custom Fab bar (S14 for me) as far as quality and fit. The weight on mine came out to 5.44lbs.

On the topic of front strut bar recommendation, do you guys know if one that will clear an s14 sr in an s13 chassis? I've tried the DC and Cusco (advertised to fit sr swap). Both did not clear the intake manifold.

I'll try up my Stealth Custom Fab bar here in a couple of weeks when I get my S15 SR in. It had quite a bit of clearance, so I'm thinking it'll clear.

I got an S14 bar from J Fraz a few weeks ago, fit great in my Zenki w/ S14 SR20. It's snug on top and touches the fire mat under the hood but there's plenty of clearance to the notch top cover on JGY mounts. I'll get pics in a bit.

S14, S14SR20, JGY rubber engine mounts. Jonnie said it was an S14 bar.
