You'll have to ask Ken for more details but how about this?

I forget what chassis it's from but it's a column from a European car. There's some fab involved, but I doubt it'll be $1k. There's more in the Fatmanracing facebook page 2012 teaser album but it's a teaser album so it's really short on details. Bad news about the car though that I can't go into (because I don't know) so there probably won't be any more updates.

            more info plz

Gah you guys remember the guy that was making me a manual cnc rack? The guy kinda ran for it with my ****ing sample parts and 500USD... Pretty pissed.

Anyways he also made a steering column setup that was under 800USD and you could customize it etc.... but then that didn't materialize into further production.

Would be nice if someone made such a thing for our cars though as a complete kit (with some welding naturally).

That rack that he made for the lucky few though was as described by a bunch of them "swiss clockwork" in terms of feel and precision.... and i never got a taste of it except now im hunting him down to send me back the parts and money, he's been banned from rx7 forums for ignoring ppl who made deposits

              Only $6K!

They are private labeling a kit from Europe if I recall correctly.

I'm guessing you can get a JY motor and sensors and then control it using a high end ECU like Motec for much less.

                lol at 6k..

Yeah you can buy more than one clean stock 240sx chassis for that amount

Something complete <1000$ would make sense.... 6k.... lol

It does seem legit, but wtf kind of guy decides to price something 6k o_O

There's gotta be something along the above already 'available'... just requiring an extra computer control...

Vauxhall Corsa C. And it's way under a grand. Lots of fab, but worth it, for sure. Bill has this setup on his RS Maxi, as well.

                    More updates coming...

I had mine shipped from a parts reseller in Ireland. The columns are relatively cheap. The shipping was reasonable. And the control unit is less than 100.00, including shipping. We are working on importing several, along with controllers. The demand, particularly from the 240 crowd, seems to be growing.

Corsa C's are very common here, should be able to pick them up for less than overseas postage costs, for example:

                          http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VAUXHALL-C...ht_1753wt_1037

Anybody got a link to any write ups about this?
Fitting EPS seems quite an odd move to me, educate me lol

                          Vauxhall/Opel are owned by GM.

Our postage cost on one was around 125.00.

The 240 is pretty notorious for having leaky seals in the steering rack. Particularly when racing. Personally we tried rebuilding the racks to tighter tolerances, bigger coolers and larger reservoirs to reduce temps, etc, but still end up with a sheen of fluid after a race, or at least some amount of fluid in the bellows.
This eliminates all the fluid from the equation, as well as having the added benefit of eliminating the Power steering pump, lines, tank... There's even a company out there (Xcessive) that makes a power steering pump delete bracket that holds your pulley so you can still spin your water pump.
