  • towing capacity of 240sx?

I had this crazy idea that I could probably tow my S13 back and forth from the track with my S14 a while ago after I saw there were companies that made tow hitches for S14s.

I can't seem to find any information on towing capacity on S14s. Does anyone have any knowledge on small uni-body cars towing other cars? My clutch, and tires should be fine for the extra load, but its the chassis im curious about obviously.

No way in the world you could do it with an S14. An S13 + extra tires, tools etc. are going to stress your average V8 frame-body SUV or truck pretty good even with an open trailer.

I doubt you could pull a loaded trailer up a slight incline with an S14.

BTW - you ever towed anything? You definitely want excess towing capacity.

I think my Draw Tite is rated for 2000 lbs. I'd bet if you could even get moving the tail would wag the dog.

the s14 hitch spec was 2000, but unsure if the car itself can do it. s13 was listed at 1500.

most i'd try is a small formula car....

it can be done in a pinch. After i busted the clutch fork pivot at an auto-x in my s-13 my dad was able to tow it it back with his auto kouki. This is also on level roads too. I would definitely suggest against it though.

by tow rope; i highly doubt it would be possible with a real trailer.

Probably not if you value your unibody keeps all its bits spot welded together.
