  • My ebrake modded itself into a drift ebrake: how to fix / improve it?

I posted this on a local forum, but I'm reposting here to see what you guys think:

So the ratcheting gear fell out of my e-brake...

I started a diy repair, but the stamped steel with rivets is a poor design, and it's inevitably prone to failure again.

Suggestions other than the obvious bolt through the middle and slot the mount upgrade that I have in mind?

As you can see, I cut the head off the foremost fastener and then removed it.
I found a nut and bolt combo in the same diameter and used it to bring more tension to that section.

I'm still not happy with the amount of play in the arm though, so I'll probably give it another bolt and nut combo midway through.
Of course then I'll have to slot out the mount to give it the full range of motion.

Uhhhh, just replace the handle with one from a junkyard?
I might still have my stocker around...

      ^that.

Real simple to replace, just have to get under the car to pull the cables from the yoke (which is attached to the cable from the handle).
