  • My Brake lights just stay turned on...

The s-chassis brake assembly has a plastic piece that slaps a switch to turn off the brake lights.

Well this piece broke on my car so... what have nrr members done about this?

I stuck a bolt on it. Bolt + nut, then adjusted the switch to touch the bolt when the pedal is fully released.

Autozone nut told me i should fill the hole with poxy... I look at his space wing honda and walked away.

I considered using a bolt or welding it closed and sanding it down. I was mainly concerned with the bolt murdering the plastic button on the switch.

I have no idea what size you need but nonetheless I'll throw a wild idea out there that maybe you can use a plastic bolt, like the ones for a license plate. I'm pretty sure they come with the plastic nuts too.

          What?

I have had mine setup like this since like 2004, the "plastic button" on the switch isn't as weak as you think.

Those POS plastic things have broken on every Nissan I've owned (that's 6 to date..), and most of my friend's cars too.

I just stick a small trim bolt- the ones with the 10mm heads- in it and call it a day. It's almost identical thickness as the plastic button so I didn't even have to adjust the switch.

A new plastic nub thing is like 80 cents and pops right in. Or you can glue a nickel or something over the whole.

A 12x1.25 bolt threads right in, if you have a random bolt box one will thread in with a jam nut, my car has been this way since 2006 with only one initial 5min adjustment, easy as cake.

But the plastic nubbing is weight reduction!

NVH brah. Plastic nubbing makes no noise I can hear over my gear whine and flame shooting exhaust.
