  • S13 HB: Anyone know where this plug goes?

So I got my dash all back together after pulling everything to remove the sound deadening tar and I'm not sure where this plug is supposed to go, or if it is even supposed to go anywhere.

It comes out of the harness in the same place as the drivers side auto seat belt plug that goes up the A-pillar, my car already had the auto seat belts stripped when I bought it so I'm not really sure what it used to plug into but it is the one halfway up the A-pillar.

I'm thinking it is the plug for the Hud, but I dunno if they even put that plug in the hatches, and the car isn't ready to run so I have no idea for sure if i missed anything important, I know you guys have a lot of experience with rewireing harnesses so I was hoping someone could help me out.

Looks like the CONSULT connector to me.

doesn't the consult connector have a rubber surround thing? , if THIS one is the consult connector I have another one that I should have plugged in

If it is Consult, it should have like 3 or 4 wires going to the back of the plug. One is like, way out by it's self.
I can't tell though. It does look like consult though

I think the consult is a gray plug and all of the wires going to it are various greens.

Was the car an automatic ?

Consult plug is grey with a vinyl surround. Is the cluster plugged in? That looks like the plug that goes to the harness/button subharness. Its normally more behind the cluster, but it could have been yanked down.

Looked in the FSM for a few minutes, and it could be the connector for the HUD as well. there's a harness that goes from the cluster to the HUD and it could be that. Nissan generally just uses one harness design for the car. i.e. they won't have a different harness for a non-HUD car and an HUD car. so it could be that.

but it could also be something for the gauge cluster itself, although that one looks different than the connectors on my S14 gauge cluster.

That's the connector that goes from the dash harness to the cluster sub-harness. There's 2 of them back there (other one is black) and they're the same regardless of HUD or non-HUD.

yes, the car was originally automatic and I converted it to 5 speed. It's not the consult connector, that still had the rubber surround on it. I have all three plugs on the back of the cluster plugged in, so I'm going to say its probably for the hud at least untill I get the car running and can see if anything doesn't want to work properly.

The three connectors on the back of the cluster aren't what I'm talking about. Those are just on a subharness. That subharness runs out to 2 connectors that hook up to the dash. One of those 2 connectors is the white one in your pic (I think).

This is what the cluster subharness looks like on an S13:

Note the white connector on the left that looks identical to the one you posted. The ones on the right go to the cluster and are an odd wedge style to interface with cluster's flex PCB.

I can tell you for certain that it's not the HUD connector because it would be black.

The gauge harness connectors are in different spots though. Above the radio/ hvac

that looks like the connector for the automatic shift control module (or whatever it's called). i have a plug that looks exactly like that on the driver's side near the hood release. (s14, originally auto)
