  • Roll Center Adjusters ? (Collar vs. Shank)

Does anyone have any insight on the pros/cons of these two types of roll center adjusters? I currently have a used set of Moonface RCAs in my LCAs, and got a set of new Megan RCAs for Christmas.

My question is, which is better in terms of type not brand? I have read the Moonface use an extended shank design whereas the Megan use a spacer between the ball joint and the LCA. So can anyone elaborate on why one is better than the other, or does it not actually matter?

You want to move the PIVOT location down in relation to the ball joint mounting location. So you want a longer shank length. Just moving the whole housing up and down does absolutely NOTHING to suspension geometry.

So what exactly is the point of the "rcas" offer by companies like Megan who use the collars to space their ball joints?

What im asking is, If it's doesn't do anything, why did they design it?

I'm not in any way saying your wrong, I'm just curious as to why the make a product that does absolutely nothing?

The point is they are makin lots of money selling overpriced crap that doesn't work. They probably don't even know why it would or wouldn't work.

Why else would a knock off company sell stuff?

Tein made this. Megan must have just simply copied them. I'm suprised Tein dosn't have any one that understands the kinematics of body rolling.

just because it doesnt work doesnt mean people wont buy it. im sure someone at tein knows better, but what do they care

What Josh said.. Just cause they don't do anything doesn't mean stupid people won't buy them.

Electric system "Power stabilizers" ??? Ever opened one? most of them are a chunk of battery cable wound a couple times into a coil and then potted into a urethane brick so you can't see it's just a freakin wire in a box. And people pay $300 for these things!

Moving the arm down without moving the pivot would still change the camber curve, won't it?

Or is the difference negligible/not worth the effort?

the only reason it changes the camber/toe curves is because you're lengthening the arm by a tiny fraction.
Assume the stock arm is 12" long and the spacer thingy is 2" long.
adding the spacer before the pivot just makes the arm 12.16" long now.

NO difference whatsoever. The physical arm appearance doesn't matter, it's only the imaginary line between the two pivots.

It gives more static camber if that's what you're after, but no change in camber gain (which is what my earlier post was talking about).

Just clearing things up for the guy. We're saying the same thing, just talking about different aspects.

true. the differences will be so minor, they won't be too noticeable. you will have to realign the car though as it'll cause a small amount of toe out when you make the change.
all in all, it's a negligible difference tho that can be adjusted out with adjusting the tie rod ends.
