Nagisa Auto Shakitto Plate, worth it?

i was wondering about these Nagisa Auto Shakitto Plate

are they really that good?

anyone with these to chime in with real experience with them? or are they just another shiny useless piece of metal?

Seen a few ppl install/use them. They all said the stiffness add was just like a Fender Brace. If you don't have a Fender Brace I'd look into that first. The ppl I've seen install them already had Fender Braces.

plenty of reviews if you search. keep in mind, if you are racing competitively, they may be illegal depending on the class you want to run. Of course, even fender braces are illegal in the street classes of autox, just depends on what you do.

that being said...

my car: s13 vert
- 4-pt roll bar in rear & beefy jonni fraz strut bar & power brace in front. dramatically reduced the "noodly" feeling in the rear, front was still kind of lacking compared to rear

- verts have stock fender braces welded in. didn't look like it did much. removed one side to tuck up harness. noticed a "bobbing" of the car during hard cornering @ autox; guess something that looked like it didn't do much actually did quite a bit

- put on some beefy fender braces, bobbing was gone & car felt great in hard cornering again - yay fender braces seem to work

- put on shakitto plates shortly afterward - even better support in the front in terms of braking - "felt" more responsive; whether or not it improved lap times is undetermined, but it definitely gave a more confident feeling in the car, which is worth it to me

these are great used in conjunction w/ each other & if you already have the more basic mods done, i.e. good tires, suspension, power brace, etc.

I bought them because they are shiny pieces of metal...

No experience, but I'd expect these plates to do more on s13's. Compare the strut tower on the 2 models, the s14 already has actual Shakitto-like bracing.

Bought a pair for my 13 and the quality seemed good, but i never ended up installing them, thinking I would just attach my cage to the strut towers instead. Now the rules won't let me so I will make something similar to the shakitto plates or make my strut tower bar connect to the firewall instead.

They work well. Very stout, could tell a difference when installed separate of my fender bracing.

You'll need to drill more holes to run zip ties through to keep the nut straps from clinking together. They make a hell of a racket.

Clutch reservoir becomes harder to access.

I have them on my s14. They are very solid. You feel a difference when braking but it's nothing spectacular. I felt the power brace or DC strut bar did more. They are fairly easy to install and I did not have to make any modifications.

Heeeeeeyyyy.. I just noticed that one doesn't have the cutout for the hood latch. But I'm still not paying $250 for one. I'll just make mine out of aluminum.

Use hood pins! You can remove one of those columns on the radiator support attached to the latch to get better airflow as well too!

I know that much.. I already have hood pins and have completely removed the latch mechanism and the vertical brace thingy in front of the radiator. That's why I got a stiffy when I saw the cover above didn't have a cutout for the hood latch.

i believe that was the old vertex s15, that complete carbon piece you used to be able to get from renova i believe was the place back in early 2000s
