  • Good entry level FIA spec seat?

I'm trying to find a decent FIA spec seat that will fit somewhat decent in my S13 and not break the bank.

I've been looking at the Sparco Sprint V, MOMO Start 2007, and OMP TRS. Does anyone have any experience with any of these that they would like to share? Super uncomfortable? Better options out there?

    Sparco Sprint V:

    OMP TRS:

So far all of my research leads me to believe they have no problem fitting into an s-chassis with rails that are readily available.

For the width, compare to a Recaro SPG. Anything more than about 1/2" wider than that won't fit on something like Bride FG rails.

For DEs, I'd honestly just get a seat that is just expired out of someone's race car. They don't go for much (outside of ricer-central forums like Zilvia that think a $700 new seat that's 8 years old is worth $600). I am inclined to believe the level of safety of a just expired seat is just fine given the very low likelyhood of a wreck at a DE. Not saying completely cheap out on safety equipment, but as with most things "safety related" - it's all about compromises.

FWIW, I've sat in a few of the cheaper seats (Sparco Speed I think, and I think the OMP one, maybe it was Racetech, been a while), none of them fit me very well. I'd suggest checking them out before pulling the trigger, and keep in mind a more expensive/used seat might be a better bargain if it fits you better.

Just to add, something the width of a Recaro Pole Position WILL NOT FIT Bridge FG rails. A bunch of dumbasses on Zilvia all said it'd fit fine - not even close. Thankfully my other seat worked so the passenger gets real Recaro comfort while I'm hard riding in some Japanese replica of an SPG. But hey, it had JDM stickers on it when I bought it.. haha

I REALLY liked my Momo Start, especially with the thigh pad on it. The new ones should have both side and bottom mounts.

for an accurate reply you might want to add your height, weight, and waist size...

that being said, of the 3 you posted, i owned the MOMO and the Sparco, the MOMO is much better. its shapely like a nice seat should be, but its cheap. the sparco sprint, TEC, and other cheap level sparco seats are pretty uncomfortable.

I did something like what Def was saying, and bought a Sparco ProADV out of SPL's race Z32 for 50% off. it was less than a year old and in perfect shape, its the most comfortable race seat i've ever sat in!

Whatever seat you get be SURE to side mount it, bottom mount will be terrible for clearance.

I had that Sparco in my FD a few years back and didn't like it one bit. It looks pretty decent and all, but its not worth buying. Rather not comfortable pretty much everywhere. A good comfortable seat is worth every penny, I think most will agree with me on that. Either keep saving for a new good seat, or get a used good one. I recommend Cobra seats, I have the Suzuka S and I love it.

i like my recaro spg xl. i'm actually looking to swap it for a halo version when i can afford it. you might look for other folks doing that and get their non-halo seat.

It definitely wasn't perfect. I know I farted in that seat at least once when Kuah had the car at TWS and I was sitting in it drooling...

I'm 5' 6" and 135lb. I fit pretty much all of the seats available lol.

I was leaning more toward the MOMO if I couldn't find any used, so thanks for the input. The problem is, I haven't found a used seat local to me and I've been looking for months. All I've seen are a few trashed bride knockoffs whoring their way around the local drift cars. -.- I guess I'll keep an eye out though.

Keep an eye on nasa and scca forums as they come up there every once in a while.

I got lucky and scored a pair of EVO 2's that had never been installed (but were about 2 years old) for $700 shipped off ebay. They came with aluminum sidemounts that I sold back on ebay for $200 to help make the deal that much sweeter

I picked up a sparco corsa for $330 shipped off of the nasa forums. Seats pop up on there all the time, but they go really quick too.
