  • Custom e-brake for parking?

I have a non functioning z32 rear e-brake -- cables snapped. So anyways that sucks, only one cable works now lol...

I was wondering what kind of custom options are there. I am not sure if hydraulic (sp?) e-brake would work for parking i heard people say thats a no no, or am i mistaken.

Thing is, the z32 rear e-brake assembly is lots of stupid weight... but had to be put there due to 300zx rear brakes. What are some options that could help a car be parked if on a hill or something and not kill the car, while removing the silly weight of the e-brake. Other than putting bricks, I know its funny, but lets be practical, dont say that hehe.

I've got some Z32 cables sitting in my garage right now that I'm not using, I'm not sure if they're 2+2 though. Pay for postage and they're yours.

You can always look into separate e-brake calipers. I think some of them are cable activated. I would call up some brake companies like wilwood and see what they offer.

If it's lighter than the stock 300sx assembly why not... but i wonder if it would be any lighter really...

The REAL problem will most likely be mounting it. It will for sure be lighter as you could remove the entire backing plate/dust shield assembly along with the shoes and hardware. That's a LOT of weight right there! The problem will be mounting it as there are no mounting holes anywhere on the upright to bolt a bracket to that I have seen. Adapting the cables will require some work, but it really won't be THAT difficult to do that. It's the mounting brackets that I'm stumped on. Maybe bolt the bracket to the hub mounting bolts? Maybe drill some new holes in the upright?
