SPAL Fan controller with SR

I've been digging around online and haven't had much luck finding a solid answer.......

I'm assuming the Spal Fan Controller will read temps from the SR20 OEM temp sensor but I'd like to confirm before I order this.

Is anyone running this setup?

The lowest price I've found on the SPAL controller is from Speedway Motors -

This controller can be programmed for any two wire powered OEM temp sensor or you can purchase the optional sensor which is the large 3/8ths NPT size.

A few negatives with this unit:

• The controller box is large and takes up some serious real estate
• It only controlls 1 fan with the PWM circuit on a 20A limit. If you want a 2nd fan you have to wire up a seperate releay that the controller ground triggers.
• Wiring and connectors are excelent (Deutsch DTM) but the connector size and wiring diameter is pretty beefy.

If I had to do it over again I'd get the DIF PWM controller

The connectors on the controller is not as good as the SPAL unit but it can handle up to 60A (using solid state relays) continuous and works with 0V - 5V sensors (programmable for OEM sensors).

I recently wired up my dual electric fans on my S13 the budget way. I used a spare OEM fuse box to scavenge fuse terminals and relays to wire up two relays with 15A fuses with one relay per fan triggered by a single switch (some wire to the ignition switch) to ground from the relays. I put it in the main fuse box and it's all very OEM and works but sucks the AMPs full time.
