  • running inverted coilovers on an S14 + bumpsteer (pics)

im getting my R14 ready for the modified tuner shootout <full build thread here: http://forums.nicoclub.com/zerothrea...tuner-shootout >

and im working on the rear susp. subframe bushes eliminated, so subframe moved up (and all inner pivots moved up). Im getting a set of Motons, and had to modify the aluminum uprights to accept the 1/2" heim

    ^^installed spherical courtesy of 2fast240us!!

    ^^rear upper shock mount

rear view (you can see why its still bumpsteering with my fubared outer toe rod location)

where have you guys relocated the outer tie rod point to? im considering 5mm below stock, but only want to change it once more! will cycle and record toe change with dial indicators and plot this weekend

Wouldn't it be nice if a company made some of those parts for us? HINT, HINT...

I might be interested in some of those toys if they were SCCA STU legal.

Umm sorry but I can't help much on advice of where to move things. I was drooling over the intarwebtalk of this car and hoping to steal your numbers for my car.. IF I ever get around to doing something that crazy.

Have you plotted the bumpsteer? You might get the traction rod pulling the front of the upright closer at almost the same rate the toe rod starts pulling the rear of the upright in. Maybe experiment with different traction rod lengths?

What made you move the toe point? Did you actually have bump steer which couldn't be dialed out with the other adjustable arms?

Have you spaced down the LCA or something? (I can't see the ball joint from the angle the pics are taken)

Doesn't look like the RLCAs were lowered via a longer ball joint or anything.

Actually I asked him that but he said basically the front was "cut up the front from a skyline" and modify a bunch of things due to shock length blabla i remember asking Geoff this months and months ago or even a year+ ago lol.

BUT it would be pretty sweet if he made some stuff for us heh

we would be happy to make these parts for you guys! just post up what you are looking for? Most of these susp parts can be bought from spl, but the DIY-R14 kit will obviously be coming from us. we finished the final design and have two cars to do to verify fitment of the components, they are going to sell for a lot less than before

I think one of the things people would like to see are front and rear spindles with a 2" drop all around like the driftworks version but with spherical bearings, rear z32 option and aluminum a opposed to steel. That'd be a fun thing.

Front double wishbone conversion would be cool. Our rear multilink is pretty descent but the rear being corrected for better grip would win alot of hearts im sure. If everything could be boltin that would be full of win as well.

With competitive pricings i'm sure there would be plenty nice sales.

The general s chassis public is finally getting interest in suspension modding.. other than 'slamming' and stretching stupid tires.

There's a lot more cool stuff I'd rather do with the suspension than drop spindles. These inverted dampers are one of those things.
