  • VIR Full Course with THSCC

I went up to VIR this weekend with Tarheel Sports Car Club to run VIR Full course. This was the second outing in my S14 but the first with a REAL suspension underneath the car. I run in the advanced solo group and it was fun as hell with T1 Corvettes blowing your doors off constantly.

I took 2nd place in the Time Trial on Sunday in Street Mod 2 and 1st on Sunday (everyone else broke hear ) I still got outrun by a ITA CRX with the stock motor :angry

Hear are some pics and the friend in the ITA CRX shot some video following me that I hope to have later in the week.

Lucky guy, getting to do VIR in February. Meanwhile, it's been in the teens (I'm talking about temperature... gotta clarify before 2Fass tries to turn THAT one around on me ) with snow storms and freezing rain.

Gotta wait till April here... fail.

Its a crap shoot at best. 2 years ago we did a 1/2 day at VIR and had to cancel due to snow.

This is one of two major things that kep me from going. The other is that I'm not usually finished with everything until early March.

Ryan, what kind of indicated top speeds are you seeing on the back and front straights?

115 mph both front and back (ie- The speed limter )

I didn't start hitting the speed limiter until Sunday where I adjusted my shift point before 16 (short shift to 4th).

I keep forgetting this damn motor does not make power up top, its all down low

Dude. How in the hell are you a second faster than me? Do you have a golden stopwatch or something where you can pause time? I'm indicating 125 on both straights, I'm flat after left hook all the way to South Bend. On my best lap Saturday, I indicated 95 freakin mph exiting south bend. That's "Hair On FIRE" fast through there. Where the hell are you finding a second over me? Both classroom instructors viewed my timetiral laps and both said "I don't know where the time is...."

                        WTF?!?!?

My **** is not weak, cuz

1- I am not a speedometer watcher I question how some people know their speed everywhere on the track, looking at the damn speedometer isn't gonna make me faster, looking down the track will. I do know that right now its impossible for me to go over 115mph. Methinks your speedometer is off.

2- Remember, I'm rockin' a truck motor. I was even surprised at how well and EASY it got to 100-105 mph, that last 10 or so MPH is a bitch though. This thing is STILL a dog above 5-5.5k rpm.

3- You- FWD Me- RWD, I'm gonna win most battles of turning since I'm not asking my motivating wheels to turn as well.

4- We need to get Ron or someone else with a DL-1 to let us do some testing with them at VIR-N. Does Rice still have his DL-1? I'd be interested to see where we differ on track. I'm gonna guess Hogpen/3 are places where I gain on alot of people, especially FWD. I'll guess you gain on me in the Uphill Esses/Southbend because I am a wimp thru there.

5- Ron out ran us BOTH and I saw his DL-1 stuff from that weekend and he isn't getting much more than 115 out of his car either.

It was fun and you certainly were a motivating factor in my TT performance

                              Just for clarity sake

                              1.486 seconds on Saturday
                              1.264 seconds on Sunday
