  • Tie rods

Feel free to share tie rod experiences but I'm looking for a stock type inner and outer tie rod replacement.

    options:
    OEM
    Autozone (limited lifetime warranty)
    Tein (look like stock design)

I'd like to stay with the stock design because I'd rather my tie rods break before my rack does. Also, I'm not sure if "hardened" tie rods are within my class rules

    The Tein's work fine
    Between rides...unless you count a WD21...

I thought i read somewhere that the tein ones are just like oem s14 rod ends?

      True?

Basically, as they are S14 inner tie rods. I'm not positive on the outers though.

Not sure if you have s13 or s14, but s13 stock tie rods are weak sauce... i got the moog oem replacments and they were weak sauce too, i bent them in like half a year... poop.

Waiting to install spl outers + z32 inners... (z33 tein beefed up inners fit too -- totally hardcore.. heh)

It might cost you the same and last longer in the end but just a thought..

What do the rules say specifically? Sometimes you can bend them a little, but most of the time - especially with SCCA - if it doesn't say that you can, then you can't.

I couldn't find anything that says anything specifically about the tie rods but I know it would have to be OEM or OEM replacements. I'm thinking about getting some from autozone and changing them as needed since they offer a lifetime warranty. I've heard of people doing the same thing with rotors while using Hawk Blue's.
