  • Speedometer Recalibratin

So my next S14 is gonna be a Canyon Carver/Touge Runner and I'm gonna be using a 4.364 FD so I know the Speedometer is gonna be off.
Which of these two wires would I splice (28 or 35) to calibrate the Speedometer. I'll be using the Dakota Digital SGI-5. Also will this affect ABS operation?

    WAT.

Pull the speedo out of the cluster. Find the set of solder jumpers on the back. Jumper #6, which is a 6.3% change. 4.363 is a 6.8% change, which is close enough. If 6 is already jumpered, open it and jumper #7. I did this in my S14 and it's dead nuts on with a 4.363. Was speeding doing 64 on the speedo. Cop says, "this is a ticket for 64mph". Proven! haha

    Here's some pretty pics:

Crap totally forgot about that, thought that only applied to the JDM Clusters. So in addition to the 6.5% from the FD I'm going to be using 235/40/18 Tires which are 2% taller then the stock size. to I would need to add a total oh 4.5% correct?

I feel special for forgetting about that lol

          sounds about right to me.

Do you have a GPS, or can borrow one?
fix it at 4.5% and then take the GPS for a drive on some straight highway where you can set the cruise. I doubt there's much of that in Hawaii, but I'm sure you can figure something out.

check the speedo vs the gps's reading and adjust from there.

I would just buy a GPS and not care about the stock speedo anymore...

I use a GPS in my S13 because my HUD stopped working...
              GPS is accurate and digital!

This is correct. Just add up the jumpers on the back of your speedo as per the link, then add 4.5% more to it.

I never thought of that but great idea. I'll use a friends GPS to set my speedometer correctly after installing my Dakota unit.

I wired my dakota digital unit directly into the back of the cluster. Mine is probably a bit different than what you guys are doing since I'm using a much different signal from the t56 in my car.

The wires in the pic above are:
red wire is 12v to power the unit
                    black is ground
green is speed signal coming from ls1 vss
yellow/red stripe is output going to the cluster.

Its mounted under the passengers side air bag cover. Its real easy to calibrate, just push the "up" or "dn" button.
