  • S13.5 conversion

lol I can't believe I've just created an s13.5 thread but I just did LOL.

Anyone have more pictures and info on this guy's car? David Roman is apparently his name.

While on bed last night I was thinking about doing an s13.5 conversion lmao Ah dreams. But seriously, I was wondering what wide conversion fenders and bumpers for wide fenders are available...

And s15 bumpers that would be for wide fenders... more something along the lines of being enclosed with very tiny openings for less drag but just enough for radiator/ps cooler/brake ducts.

There's so much garbage out there I figured we could have a descent discussion on this. Yes it's so zilvia and super newbish to discuss but whatever... still 240 related.

I want to gather information as I plan to do it. Shed some weight and make the front sleeker/smoother cutting through the air...

I want to eventually fit 285s in the front and 315s or even 335s in the rear for my v8 aspirations hehe... however I am going to guess for that cutting and modifying will be required and nothing off the shelf... but at least as a good base I want to start with something... This will all be on my new chassis not the current one.

    Waste of money.

Let's say you get get it on and it looks flawless, and then you wreck it. Enjoy hunting down replacement parts.

Keep it simple man. Flip up lights, and readily available replacement parts.

Well, I guess it's mostly show, but I thought for once I'd try to make my car look attractive HAHA... i mean look at how ugly my car is

I want to get lighter bumper/fenders (wider)/hood (vented), but it's either I'll be patient and do the conversion or... stick with popups but do something about getting rid of popups/motors and replacing with some sort of non-popups (im not talking about s13 silvia conversion).. however most are butt ugly...

These are OKAY... but then there are some hidieous ones. Plus most of this crap is 'jdm' and overpriced/discontinued. I don't want to fab up half-assed ones. I know I've been function over form until now, but damn man, I don't want my car too be too ugly LOL. Plus I want lights that lid up the road... HIDs would be easy to retrofit into those s15 headlights... and not blind people doing it. Most of these popup>non popup lights don't have brightness on the road at all.

Dude, that thing is crazy. The bumper is ok, but the rest of the car is awesome. Damn.

Pop up headlights suck. I am planning to do a Silvia conversion simply to reduce weight. They also suck for drag.

Here is some data from corvettes that should relate decently to S13 popups. Testing was done at 85 MPH by Corvette Fever in AeroDyn's tunnel:

Wow that 13 is real clean. Is that an East Bear Headlight kit?

Well functionally the s15 has the most aerodynamic front end, but like someone else said, a wreck would cost big money. I'd say flares will be the cheapest way to fit big tires under you're fenders

well normally I dont like s13.5 because from side view you can see how the body lines don't really match up, or look well as a whole. The pic in the first post is a GREAT angle and makes it look good, but if you do a rear 3/4 view personally I think they look kinda funky.

That said, don't let ANYBODY else tell you what looks good. The s15 front end is so sexy it's ridiculous, and that's coming from a '97 owner with my little head lights

Sourcing parts is harder, but not so much so that you should avoid it. A lot of people are into s15 front ends so there are a lot of parts. It's not hard at all to find conversion fenders, and everything else can be oem if you want, though obviously a CF hood saves a lot of weight. The difference here, isn't the difficulty in getting parts but the COST. s15 headlights are going to run you a helluva lot more than some junkyard s13 units. Same goes for every piece of body work, be it oem or aftermarket. The simple fact is there is much much more supply of s13 parts so the cost is lower on the 2nd hand market.

Yay for a bunch of non-technical info

That is some very nice aero work up front.

There's more pictures, I only posted front ones. I created a thread a long time ago... since we can't search on the forum with 3< characters (eg; s15) I couldn't dig it up...

A bumper like that is awesome though... s13 or s15... less holes unlike most aftermarket bodykits which have gigantic holes...

It took the guy 3 years to make it all by himself.
